Fabrico, Inc., which has operations in Oxford, is buying Johnson Tool and Manufacturing in Charlton, the company announced this morning.
Johnson Tool has a 20,000-square-foot facility on Route 20 in Charlton. Johnson employees will remain with the company, which will be run by Ray Johnson Jr., plant superintendent and son of the company owner and president Ray Johnson, who is retiring. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fabrico, which built an 80,000-square-foot facility in Oxford in 2006, said the acquisition will allow it to shorten lead times by adding Johnson's in-house capabilities to its processes.
Johnson Tool offers precision machining, prototyping, wire electrical discharge machining, grinding and computer numerical control milling and turning for material testing, automotive machining, the medical and energy sectors, printing and grinding, according to its website.
Fabrico provides components for land-based gas turbines, semiconductors, steam turbines and the aviation market.
