The building once home to The Owl Shop retail store at 414-416 Main St. in Worcester was purchased by Markopoulos Development of Worcester on Friday.
“We are excited to bring this great four story building back to life in the heart of downtown Worcester,” read a Saturday Facebook post by the developer.
George Markopoulos told WBJ that the company is in the early stages of assessing options for the building’s future use.
“Our goal is to restore this property back to its former glory as Mr. Photakis, the long-time previous owner, took such pride in his building,” said Markopoulos.
Markopoulos purchased the building from The Owl Shop, which had owned the building since 1968, according to the Worcester District registry of Deeds.
The 4,788-square-foot building is assessed by the City of Worcester at $252,200.
James Kalogeropoulos of Re/Max Partners in Andover brokered the deal.
The Owl Shop’s third-generation owner Zack Photakis moved the shop to New Hampshire in December. The business was founded in 1946. Its original location was at 285 Main St. in Worcester.
This place is historical and amazing, times have forgotten some of the finest aromas walking past while i was a kid
