Robert Coughlin, who announced his impending resignation as CEO of Cambridge life sciences trade association MassBio on Monday, is leaving his post to become managing director of real estate company JLL’s life sciences sector, JLL announced Wednesday.
JLL is headquartered in Chicago but also operates in Boston.
In his new position, he will work in the life sciences sector in the Greater Boston market, as well as other primary and secondary life science markets, according to JLL. He is set to begin in his job in early 2021.
“For biotech companies, solving complex human challenges is their top priority,” said Coughlin, in a statement. “That’s why I am thrilled to make the transition into real estate. Biotechs need a strong partner who can help them identify opportunities to optimize their portfolios, whether it’s through site selection, tax incentives or operational efficiencies.”
A nationwide search is set to commence to replace Coughlin at MassBio.
