OSHA awards Acton Post Office

The U.S. Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has honored an Acton-based Post Office with membership in the "Star" Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), recognizing employee protection efforts beyon what is required by OSHA.

The Post Office's "Star" designation stems from an on-site review of its application and safety and health programs, interviews with employees, and a walk-through of the worksite.  The Acton operation is one of 1,600 worksites across the country that belong to the VPP.

Areas of excellence include: training for safety and health committee members; daily safety walk-throughs; providing employees with cameras to document hazards; and the use of the "Stop" method to prevent injuries.
