Online publication Worcester Sun creating print edition

File Photo The Worcester Sun will be on newsstands every Saturday beginning Dec. 9.

Beginning on Dec. 9, online news outlet Worcester Sun will publish a weekly print edition.

The print edition will be published on Saturdays and be available at newsstands for $2. The inaugural edition will be a limited run of 20,000 papers for retail sale, wrote Sun Publisher Mark Henderson in a post on Sunday.

The Sun chose Saturday publication to effectively partner with the U.S. Postal Service for home delivery, the Sun wrote.

Home delivery and retail purchase of the Sun will initially be available in Auburn, Boylston, Grafton, Holden, Leicecster, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury, West Boylston and Worcester, with more towns slated for the future.

Current online subscribers can opt to have the print edition delivered to their home, and the $2 per week print subscription will come with digital access to stories every Wednesday and Sunday, Henderson wrote.

In other media news, weekly publication Worcester Magazine announced on Monday a partnership with Unity Radio, a talk radio format to be streamed live on the magazine’s website.

The format will begin on Monday and will start every day at 6 a.m. with four hours of local radio personality Hank Stolz, two hours of city councilors Gary Rosen and Tony Economou, one hour with Worcester Magazine Editor Walter Bird Jr. and another hour of special guest commentators.

Slated from 2 p.m. to 6 a.m. is reprogramming and overnight jazz.
