Old defense plant could become home to movie production company

Stratford’s mayor says a long vacant defense plant that had been used to make engines for Army tanks could become home to a movie production company.

Mayor James Miron says movie businesses are among those scouting the 79-acre Main Street property as a possible future home.

Miron says there have been at least one or more film industry companies who have met the minimum requirements to bid on the property and have shown serious interest.

The mayor says at least one of the movie businesses has put up the required $1 million entrance fee to demonstrate serious interest in obtaining the site from the U.S. Army.

It’s located across the street from Sikorsky Memorial Airport.
