Many companies report difficulty finding qualified candidates for their openings, but a new report from Staffing.org suggests they may just not be looking in the right place.
The staffing research organization said that only about a third of employers see candidate availability as sufficient, while slightly more say the supply is borderline and about a quarter say it's insufficient.
Yet a survey of people in the labor market shows that just 31 percent are not looking at job openings-20 percent say they're employed and not looking, while 11 percent say they're unemployed and not looking. Meanwhile, 33 percent say they're employed and look occasionally, and 13 percent say they work but look regularly.
Staffing.org says the data suggest that employers can meet their hiring goals by making themselves attractive to currently employed people who would be interested in another job if they got the right offer.
