ofo report: Worcester bikes popular in morning, for long rides

Bike-sharing company ofo and its yellow bikes are apparently a hit in Worcester, according to an annual report from the China-based company.

Beginning in September, the company dropped of 400 bikes in the city, which according to the company, are used heavily during the morning commute, as about 25 percent of trips on an ofo bike are during the early hours.

Worcester now holds the record for the longest single trip on an ofo bike — a total of 61 miles from one adventurous rider.

Worcester is one of 20 cities in which ofo operates. Nationwide, the company reported a total of 275,000 miles traveled and the reduction of 118,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. The 10.3 million calories burned is the equivalent to running 4,000 marathons, the company said.
