Nypro Adding 100 Jobs In Clinton
Two weeks after it announced it had reached an agreement to be sold to a Florida firm, Nypro Inc. said it plans to add 100 employees at its home base in Clinton to meet growing demand for its health care products.
"We are growing at a rapid rate and believe the trend will continue for the next several years," John Witkowski, general manager of Nypro's health care products division, said in a statement distributed by the company.
Witkowski said the sudden increase in employment at the Clinton plant is due in part to new interest from customers encouraged by Nypro's impending merger with Jabil Circuit Inc., a major global manufacturing services provider based in St. Petersburg, Fla. He said Nypro Healthcare, the company's medical device and drug delivery business, employs about 550 in Clinton. Another 300 are employed in other operations.
On Feb. 4, executives of both Nypro and Jabil announced a proposed merger that's expected to close by the end of May. The deal must secure regulatory approvals, as well as a two-thirds vote of Nypro employees. The employees, mostly through an employee stock ownership plan, own the firm.
Positions to be filled, beginning immediately, include assemblers, inspector/packers, general factory support, quality engineers, "black belt" engineers, product engineers and technicians, Nypro said.
