Insurance broker Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC (MMA) announced that it has acquired Worcester-based The Protector Group Insurance Agency.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1928, Protector Group generates about $136.6 million in annual revenue, offering property and casualty insurance, employee benefits services, personal insurance, and individual financial services to mid-size companies and individuals throughout New England.
New York-based MMA said Protector's leadership and 84 employees will remain in place, operating out of Protector's offices in Worcester, Leominster and Wellesley.
Protector President and CEO Bob Vaudreuil said, "Joining MMA represents an exciting opportunity for all of the members of our firm to build upon the strong foundation we have built over the last 84 years. Together, MMA and Protector Group will be able to offer greater resources to our clients to address their increasingly complex needs."
MMA's New England CEO Jim Blue said the acquisition doubles his company's presence in the region.
The Protector deal marks MMA's 24th acquisition since it began growing nationally in November 2009. It generates about $410 million in annual revenue.
