Nuclea Biotechnologies Inc., which has offices in Worcester and Pittsfield, said it has purchased six patents and applications related to tissue microarrays.
Nuclea, which is working to commercialize diagnostic tests for various cancers and diabetes, bought the portfolio from Laurus Master Fund Ltd. Laurus had been assigned the patents from New York-based Clinomics Biosciences.
Patrick Muraca, Nuclea's president and CEO, is the inventor of the technologies in the portfolio. He was formerly president and CEO of Clinomics.
"We believe these patents will allow Nuclea to expand our product offering and drive significant licensing revenue for the company," Muraca said in a statement.
Nuclea did not disclose what it paid for the portfolio.
