November Trade Deficit Narrows

American exports hit $142.8 billion in November as imports to the country declined by $25 billion to $183.2 billion resulting in a trade deficit of $40.4 billion, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The deficit is down from $56.7 billion in October. November exports were $8.7 billion less than October's exports of $151.5 billion.

The department said falling oil prices and lower demand for foreign goods helped bring the deficit down.
