November Job Cuts The Lowest Since 2007

Employers announced 50,349 planned job cuts for November, which is the fewest monthly job cuts since December 2007, according to a recent Challenger, Gray & Christmas report.

The international outplacement firm said the November cuts were 9.6 percent less than the 55,679 job cuts announced in October and also marks the fourth straight decline in monthly layoffs. Last month's cuts were also 72 percent less than the 181,671 layoffs announced in November 2008.

Since July 1, employers have announced an average of 69,252 job cuts per month, which is down significantly from the 149,446 average for January through June.
