Nov. Sales Up For BJ’s, Down For TJX

Natick-based BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. reported a November sales of $783 million, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

The discounter said same store sales increased by 4.1 percent as falling gasoline prices dragged the month’s results down by 2.1 percent. Excluding gasoline, same store sales increased by 6.2 percent due primarily to a strong final week in the sale of food and other consumable goods.

Framingham’s TJX Cos. Inc. said its November sales totaled $1.6 billion, a 9 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Same store sales for the discount retailer fell by 6 percent during the month.

TJX operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and other retailers.
