Note to employees: keep memos short

According to results of a survey conducted by NFI Research, 85 percent of people working for large companies think written communications from subordinates are too long.

Of those who say the memos and letters they get from their subordinates are too long, 39 percent say they’re “significantly too long.” Another 46 percent said those memos are “somewhat too long.”

NFI found the opposite was true for businesses with fewer than 500 employees. Most respondents from those businesses said written communication from their subordinates was neither too long nor too short.
