As it prepares for a year of "major transformation and regrowth," Northborough-based Nemonix Engineering Inc. has promoted CFO Duane P. Harris to CEO, the company announced.
Harris takes over for Beth Bumbarger, who had led the firm since 2001. Bumbarger will continue as chairman of the board, Nemonix said.
Nemonix provides components and other products – such as hard drive variations, Ethernet controllers, memory and CPUs – for legacy hardware systems made by Hewlett-Packard, IBM and others.
The company said its upgrades are often much faster than the original equipment and use less energy.
Nemonix said it will introduce a slate of new offerings this year, and Harris will lead that launch.
"While it's a fact that all hardware systems will eventually become obsolete, the truth is that legacy computer systems are still fueling some of the most mission and life-critical applications of major corporations and government entities around the world," Harris said in a statement. 'What I find so fascinating about Nemonix Engineering is its ability to not only repair the functionality of these systems, but also to renew their capabilities and innovate legacy systems."
