The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts has awarded $458,500 in grants to various local organizations, the public charity announced Thursday.
The grants, funded by the Commonwealth Covid Grant Program, are to support nonprofit organizations who provide relief to those affected by the pandemic.
“We are hopeful that the pandemic is loosening its grip, but many families continue to be affected by the economic impacts of Covid-19,” said Steve Adams, president and CEO of the CFNCM, in a press release. “The majority of these grants will be used to address housing insecurity, food and clothing assistance, and utility support, as well as things like services for and outreach to unhoused people.”

The organization awarded $654,745 to nonprofits in February 2021, and $290,575 last April, totalling $1.4 million in grants for the past year.
