A North Brookfield medical marijuana grower currently without a dispensary is seeking to grow recreational marijuana, according to a legal filing.
Healthwise Foundation, which operates a medical cultivation and processing site at 60 Prospect St. in North Brookfield, filed a legal notice of a community outreach meeting scheduled for next week in the Telegram & Gazette Monday.
On April 2, the company will meet at the North Brookfield police headquarters to inform the community of its plans and receive input.
Healthwise Foundation is seeking only to grow and process recreational cannabis products at its current facility, as it does not currently operate a dispensary.
The company was granted last May a preliminary certificate of registration to operate a Charlton dispensary but a final certificate of registration and approval to sell at the site has not yet been issued, according to the state Department of Public Health.
According to reports, Charlton officials have issued several approvals for a dispensary, including a host community agreement, non-opposition letter and site plan approval.
Healthwise Foundation could not immediately be reached for comment.
