Nichols College in Dudley has appointed Daniel Borgia, a dean and professor at Bryant University’s campus in Zhuhai, China, as its new provost.
Borgia will succeed Mauri Pelto, who has transitioned to the role of associate provost and special advisor to the president for accreditation and assessment, according to a Wednesday press release from Nichols.
Borgia is a professor of finance at Bryant University-BITZH, a joint cooperative program between the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai and Bryant University in Rhode Island. In his role as dean, which he has held since 2017, Borgia oversees all aspects of academic leadership at the joint campus.
Previously, Borgia has held dean positions at the Richard J. Wehle School of Business at Canisius College in Buffalo, the College of Business and Economics at the University of Idaho, and Nottingham University Business School China in Ningbo, China.
He is a former China Fulbright Scholar and has written extensively about international business and finance. He received his Ph.D. at Kent State University in Ohio.
In the summer, Nichols welcomed a new president, Glenn Sulmasy, who came from a provost position at Bryant.
