Nichols College in Dudley has named Jean Beaupre, faculty advisor to the school's Institute for Women's Leadership and associate professor of communication and marketing, as associate dean for academic affairs, the school announced on Tuesday.
Beaupre has worked at Nichols for 10 years. Prior to joining Nichols, Beaupre was a strategist and client services manager in the advertising agency industry for some 20 years. She cofounded Smith & Jones Advertising/Marketing Agency in Sturbridge, and served on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce of Central Mass. South, the AdClub of Greater Worcester and United Way of Central Massachusetts.
As the faculty advisor for the Institute for Women's Leadership, Beaupre has been a leading voice in calling for better gender equity in business leadership positions. The institute publishes the Massachusetts Women's Leadership Index on the status of women in executive positions and on boards at businesses and nonprofits.
She holds a doctorate degree in education in organizational leadership from Northeastern University in Boston.
Beaupre's predessesor, Luanne Westerling, resigned from the position to accept a job as a talent development program manager at Mapfre Insurance in Webster.
Equity is not obtainable (at least not without changing standards), but equality of opportunity is!
