David Bedard has committed $100,000 to Nichols College in Dudley to support strategies designed to increase the prominence of the school regionally and nationally, according to a Wednesday press release from the college.
Bedard is an alumnus of Nichols, a Shrewsbury native and former senior vice president, and CFO at New York Life Investments Group.
Since being appointed president of Nichols in 2021, Glenn Sulmasy’s priority has been to raise the school’s profile.
“We are on a path toward cementing our reputation within and beyond New England as a career-oriented college focused on unparalleled experiential learning opportunities and a vibrant campus culture,” Sulmasy said in the press release. “The contribution from the Bedards will underwrite initiatives aimed at elevating and promoting our brand, and we are immensely grateful.”
Bedard is retired and lives in Florida with his wife Ellen, also a Nichols alumna. He has been a member of the Nichols College Board of Trustees since 2011 and currently chairs the Audit Committee.
“Nichols holds a special place in Ellen’s and my hearts, and we are delighted to assist in sharing the history, success and amazing story that is Nichols College,” Bedard said.
