Nichols College President Stepping Down

Debra Townsley, the 12-year president of Nichols College in Dudley, is stepping down from her post to serve in the same position at Peace College in North Carolina.

During her tenure as president she instituted a five-year plan for the college to see positive net assets, which she accomplished two years ahead of schedule. In the last decade enrollment at Nichols has increased from 620 full-time students to 1,150.

Townsley also has served on numerous boards and commissions in the region and state including, the Board of Directors for the Webster-Dudley United Way, the Colleges of Worcester Consortium, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts and The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

She will begin her post at Peace College in August. There is no word on her replacement at Nichols.
