Nichols College’s Institute for Women’s Leadership will be named for outgoing president Susan West Engelkemeyer, who retired in June after 10 years at the Dudley school, the college’s board of trustees announced on Wednesday.
The new name of the institute will be the Susan West Engelkemeyer, PhD, Institute for Women’s Leadership.
Members of the board also donated $400,000 to the endowment for the institute, which Engelkemeyer created in 2013, according to the announcement.
The IWL is in charge of the annual Empowering Women in Business Conference and the biennial Massachusetts Women’s Leadership Index, the most recent edition of which came out this spring. The institute focuses on issues impacting women in business, with the goal of developing leadership potential for students and serving as a resource and authority on women’s leadership for the community.
