Nichols College in Dudley said it will raise tuition by 2.9 percent for the 2015-2016 academic year, but will hold the line the following year, marking the college’s second tuition freeze in three years.
With these actions, Nichols said tuition will increase an average of 1 percent annually over the four years from 2013 and 2017. That’s compared with a national average price increase of 3.7 percent, according to the College Board’s Trends in College Pricing 2014 report.
Nichols did not raise tuition in the current academic year, saving students $1,200 compared to the national average tuition increase, the college said.
Other local schools that have announced tuition freezes include Assumption and Becker colleges, both in Worcester. Assumption earlier this month announced a freeze for its graduating classes through 2019.
