Nichols College will have three new degree programs for the fall semester in entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, criminal psychology.
The Dudley school, which announced the new programs Friday, said the degrees will broaden students' career opportunities. The entrepreneurship and nonprofit management concentrations will be new features of the business administration program, and the criminal psychology degree will be part of the bachelor of arts program.
The entrepreneurship program is aimed at capturing Generation Z's higher likelihood of starting their own businesses, Nichols said, with students able to partner with alumni entrepreneurs and other businesses as part of the new degree offering.
The nonprofit management concentration is meant to prepare students to potentially join one of the state's 38,000 nonprofits in areas including health, education, culture, history or the environment. The nonprofit industry covers 17% of the state's workforce, Nichols said.
The criminal psychology major is being added as Nichols has seen a significant increase in students pursuing dual degrees and minors that combine criminal justice and psychology. The program will include the study of the psychology driving criminal behavior, as well as forensic psychology related to personal, social and organizational issues.
