New Year, New Bank Branches

The state Division of Banks announced this morning that it has issued “non-objections” to the establishment of two new Central Massachusetts bank branches.

Whitinsville-based UniBank for Savings has received the go-ahead to establish a branch at 89 Worcester St. in Grafton and Middlesex Savings Bank, the second largest bank in the region by total deposits, plans to establish a branch in Wellesley.

Other recent bank branch moves in the area include the Worcester Police Department Credit Union’s relocation of its main office to 400 Grove St. and Webster Five Cent Savings Bank’s relocation of a branch office from Park Avenue in Worcester to 266 Chandler St. Regulators approved those moves in October.
