New Worcester State Dean
Worcester State College has appointed Elaine Tateronis, chair of the education department, as interim dean of education.
The college is working with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on accreditation of its education department, and accrediting agencies recommend that an administrative department head or dean be in place.
The college said Tateronis has already been performing many of the duties of an education dean for some time.
She will be on leave from her position of professor of education until the middle of next year.
