Milford-based medical device maker PLC Systems Inc. says it has received two new U.S. patents and its first Japanese patent.
The patents cover aspects of its RenalGuard product, which is designed to reduce the toxic effects on patients’ kidneys of contrast media used in imaging procedures. The system helps patients maintain high urine output to rapidly eliminate the contrast media.
The company has received a total of seven U.S. patents, one Canadian patent and the Japanese patent, all covering aspects of RenalGuard. It says it’s continuing to work with patent organizations in the U.S. and elsewhere to protect its technology.
