The new owner of Midtown Mall is expected to present his plans for the property as the Worcester Redevelop Authority is still looking for the Front Street property to undergo significant improvements to keep eminent domain off the table.
Felicio Lana, owner of Worcester real estate company Northeast Properties, will present his financing and design plans along with a projected timeline to the WRA at the agency’s Friday meeting.
Lana could not immediately be reached for comment
Lana purchased the two-building mixed-use property in May for $4 million from former owner Dean Marcus, with whom the WRA had become frustrated due to inaction at the property City Hall called blighted and unsafe.
In April, Chief Development Officer Michael Traynor said there were 21 code violations at the property since 2014.
Marcus was given 30 days to submit a detailed redevelopment plan, but the property was sold to Lana, who owns several nearby properties.
Lana’s nearby properties at 44 Front St., 50 Front St. and 250 Commercial St. have also been the subject of building department action with 24 code violations at those buildings since November 2014.
