New Home Sales Up 11% In June

Sales of new single family homes increased by 11 percent in June compared to the previous month, the U.S. Department of Commerce said.
Sales hit an annual rate of 384,000 during the month, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and compiled by the commerce department.
In May, new home sales hit an annual rate of 346,000.
June's sale were still 21.3 percent below the June 2008 estimate of 488,000.
The median sales price of new houses sold in June was $206,200. The average sales price was $276,900.
