Sales of new single-family U.S. homes rose to a seasonally adjusted rate of 300,000 in March after plummeting to 270,000 in February, according to the U.S. Commerce Department.
The March rate was still 21.9 percent lower than the number a year previous.
The seasonally adjusted number of homes sold in New England was 30,000, up from 18,000 in February but down from 33,000 in March 2010.
