A new executive director has been hired at Worcester Community Housing Resources Inc., the nonprofit affordable housing developer
Jennifer Schanck-Bolwell, who serves as vice president at Crossroads Rhode Island, a homeless services agency in Providence, will start on Jan. 27.
She will manage the agency’s $4.4-million operating budget, eight staff, and interns from colleges and universities.
Board Chairman James Hayes said Schanck-Bolwell’s work over the past 15 years at Crossroads where the homeless receive health care, education, and case management, will serve WCHR.
She has the skills and experience to inspire and lead the nonprofit into the future, Hayes said.
Schanck-Bolwell will succeed Dominick Marcigliano, who is retiring after seven years on the job as executive director.
Founded in 1993, WCHR’s mission is to revitalize Worcester County neighborhoods. As an affordable housing developer, WCHR creates and preserves home ownership and rental housing for low-income households and rehabilitates abandoned properties.
It operates a $4-million revolving community loan fund providing the necessary capital for emergency repairs and maintenance for low-income homeowners.
WCHR owns more than 100 apartments, lodging house rooms, and co-housing units, and manages and maintains its portfolio and the portfolios of other affordable housing for small private developers and faith-based organizations.
