New England Trade Adjustment Assistance Center, Inc. of North Billerica has received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Commerce Department to bolster its efforts supporting manufacturers affected by imports adjust to greater global competition and to create jobs, Sec. of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced Tuesday.
The grant is part of $13.5 million being spread across 11 trade adjustment centers in various states. The centers, broadly, support technical planning and business recovery projects to help companies adapt to international competition and diversify their economies, per the announcement.
“Manufacturing provides Americans with rewarding, good paying jobs,” said U.S. Assistant Sec. of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Castillo, in a statement. “EDA’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Centers work to ensure that our manufacturers are primed to creating the innovations and jobs of the future.”
