New Editor At WBJ

Rick Saia, a veteran journalist with experience in the daily newspaper and technology trade media, has been hired as the new editor at the Worcester Business Journal.

He will replace Christina H. Davis, who will be taking a leave of absence in September when she is expected to give birth to her first child. Davis will be returning to work in a part-time capacity in 2012, focusing on online efforts for the WBJ’s parent company, New England Business Media.

Saia has been a Shrewsbury resident since 1999 after living in Grafton for 10 years. His journalism career includes stops in Framingham, where he was an editor at the MetroWest Daily News, and later senior editor at Computerworld, part of International Data Group.

More recently, he worked as a content writer at PongoResume.com in Northborough, a web-based provider of career management software applications and advice for job seekers. He graduated from Suffolk University with a bachelor's in journalism and later completed graduate-level courses at Northeastern University in Boston.

He has also served as a youth soccer coach in Shrewsbury, and recently completed a two-year term as an elected parent representative to the Shrewsbury High School advisory council.

“Rick impressed us with his enthusiasm for the practice of journalism, his deep insights into our regional B2B niche, and his experience in both the publishing and corporate worlds. We are excited to have him join our team,” said Publisher and CEO Peter Stanton.

“I’m excited to be part of a strong team at the Worcester Business Journal, and I’m fortunate to have the next few weeks to work with Christina to learn every aspect of the job,” Saia said. “I look forward to working with each member of the staff, and with the Central Massachusetts business community to make the Journal an even more indispensable source for business news and information.”

“My role as editor at the Worcester Business Journal has been an enriching experience over the last four years,” Davis said. “I have new challenges to look forward to and am pleased to be able to work with Rick through this transition.”
