Boston Marathon spectators will be able to hop on and off the Framingham/Worcester commuter rail line for a flat $20 daily fee instead of the usual charge per ride.
The MBTA and Keolis, the operator for the system's commuter rail, announced the new system this week. It is the first time the MBTA has set up such a ticketing arrangement.
Tickets will be available for purchase at ticket windows and on board Framingham/Worcester line trains on the day of the marathon, which is this Monday. The tickets will be available for that day and that commuter rail line only.
The marathon starts in Hopkinton and passes within a half-mile of most Framingham/Worcester line stops from Ashland into Boston.
The MBTA has also added two additional trains for the marathon, both leaving Boston's Yawkey and Back Bay stations for South Station.
