A Clinton fitness center has received a $32,000 loan from the North Central Massachusetts Development Corp. to cover some of its startup expenses.

Best Family Fitness opened in the fall and will use the finance for equipment, marketing, and working capital, Roy Nascimento, president and CEO of North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, wrote in an email to WBJ.

The fitness center was able to secure NCMDC funding through working with NewVue Communities, a Fitchburg-based economic development nonprofit, according to a Thursday press release from NCMDC.

Best Family Fitness provides one-on-one and small group training sessions with targeted programs offering weight loss, mobility, conditioning, and nutritional guidance. The center looks to help clients build stamina, enhance sleep, and minimize feelings of stress and anxiety.

“A big part of what makes Best Family Fitness different from other fitness centers is our unique approach to ensuring our program offerings fit each client’s individual goals,” Eric Machuca, owner of Best Family Fitness, said in the release. “I am grateful to the North Central Massachusetts Development Corp. for its guidance and support in helping me achieve entrepreneurship, so I can bring my knowledge and expertise in physical fitness and nutrition to those seeking a healthier, more active lifestyle right here in Clinton.”

The NCMDC is the economic development branch of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce in Fitchburg, certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of the Treasury under the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund.

NCMDC’s loan comes shortly after the organization loaned Beth Jaillet $150,000 to purchase the Brooks-MacMannis Florist and Greenhouse, where she had worked as an employee for 20 years.
