American Superconductor Corp. has received a $10 million order for wind turbine electrical components from CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co. Ltd. of China.
It’s the fifth order for turbine components AMSC has received from CSR, a subsidiary of China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corp.
The company plans to use the components to manufacture 1.65 megawatt turbines, which will be designed by AMSC subsidiary AMSC Windtec.
All of the components ordered are expected to be shipped by the end of the year.
CSR began manufacturing turbines for China’s rapidly growing wind power market in 2007.
