Old Sturbridge Village has appointed Jim Donahue as its new president and CEO, bringing a background of non-profit fundraising success to the living history museum.
The OSV Board of Trustees hand-picked Donahue, who is currently CEO of the Bradford Dunn Institute for Learning Differences in Providence. The Institute operates a network of programs that includes the Hasbro Center for Teaching Excellence, RI Tutorial and Educational Services, and is the founder of the CVS Highlander Charter School, the first independent public charter school in Rhode Island.
Donahue has been honored with a multitude of awards throughout his career, including the Paul Sherlock Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership and Providence Business News Forty Under Forty, among others.
Bruce Moir, OSV Chairman of the Board, said Jim's track record is what captivated the team organized to find a new CEO. "The Search Committee was impressed by what Jim created in Providence, how he has managed it, and generated the necessary financial support," said Moir. "We felt that he is the leader the Village needs to build on the successes of the past ten months and position it for the future."
"I want OSV to be a model once again for living museums nationally," said Donahue. "My hope is that 10 years from now folks from around the country will take lessons from us."
