Assumption College has signed a partnership with a Worcester Catholic school that's the combined entity of the former Holy Name and Saint Peter-Marian schools.
The new school, called Saint Paul Diocesan Junior/Senior High School, will have guaranteed college scholarships for students in a high-achieving academic program, and give Saint Paul graduates opportunities to earn a bachelor's degree a semester early at the Catholic Worcester college. The partnership, which was announced Thursday, also includes internships and opportunities to participate in a summer program allowing Saint Paul students the experience of living on Assumption's campus.
Saint Paul students could study at Assumption's campus in Rome, and academically gifted students at the high school would be invited to take up to four college classes for credit at both institutions. Internship opportunities will include Assumption students supporting website development or social media strategy at Saint Paul, or Saint Paul students working in higher education administration. Assumption's faculty will also provide support to Saint Paul faculty in curriculum development.
The partnership is due to launch in the fall semester.
The Diocese of Worceser, part of the Roman Catholic Church, announced in March the merged Holy Name and Saint Peter-Marian schools would go by Saint Paul and be based at Holy Name's campus on Granite Street.
