Worcester developer GoVenture Capital Group, LLC projects its new 111-unit apartment development now branded as The Kiln will open this fall in the city’s Greendale neighborhood.
The Kiln at 222 Brooks St. will feature market-rate studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments starting at a rental price of $1,600 a month, according to a Tuesday press release from GoVenture.
GoVenture emphasized the sustainability of the development, promising that up to 50% of the building’s power will be provided by rooftop solar panels and providing electric vehicle charging stations for residents. GoVenture President & CEO Brendan Gove is a Worcester Polytechnic Institute alumnus who founded Worcester solar company Zero-Point Development, Inc.
The development was approved by the Worcester Planning Board in February 2021. The property was purchased for $600,000 in June of 2019 by G.F. Property Holdings, Inc., a corporation registered to Gove. The previous owner was Tore Services, Inc. a company registered to Francis Madigan, treasurer and CFO of the Worcester-based construction company, F.W. Madigan Co.
The development is called The Kiln as a nod to the area’s past as a center of pottery and ceramics production.
