Netezza, a Framingham firm specializing in high-capacity servers, was selected by Pittsfield-based KB Toys for its Netezza Performance Server appliance as a means to perform analytics on store and product data.
KB will use the Netezza Performance Server to perform merchandise analysis, and eventually expand into an enterprise data warehouse, said Frank Andryauskas, CIO of KB Toys. KB selected Netezza's platform for several reasons, namely ease of use, low cost of ownership, and performance capabilities.
Tim Armstrong, director of Analytical Business Solutions for KB, said that the system also allows for several users at one time the ability to search for the required data, allowing for faster decision making from an entire team.
"The ability to quickly retrieve and analyze large volumes of detailed data by hundreds of concurrent users was a major factor in selecting Netezza as our data warehouse system," said Armstrong.
