Netezza, NEC Ink Development Deal

Marlborough-based data storage hardware maker Netezza Corp. has signed an agreement with communications technology firm NEC to develop storage equipment for the Asia market.
The two companies will jointly develop the data storage equipment, which will carry the NEC name. The appliance will be built with Netezza's architecture and analytical database software and NEC's server and storage platforms.
The appliance will be manufactured, sold and distributed by NEC.
NEC and Netezza said the product should hit the market in April with an initial focus on the Asia Pacific region.
