NEC Energy Solutions Inc., a Westborough manufacturer of storage solutions for the electric grid, said they have completed work on an energy storage system in the Czech Republic for IBG Cesko, a supplier of energy solutions.
NEC, a privately-held company, declined to reveal the terms of the deal.
The battery energy storage system will be used to test delivery modes of energy support services within a joint research project between Cez Group, a construction energy management firm, and Ceps, which is responsible for maintaining the balance of electricity supply and demand within the Czech power system.
“The timing of the project, the complexity of the supply and the demanding logistics generated several challenges but in cooperation with NEC we were able to overcome those challenges successfully,” said Ales Zazvorka, CEO of IBG Cesko in a statement. “As a result, the battery energy storage system was commissioned and turned over for operation prior to the end of the year.”
