Old Sturbridge Village will assist National Grid in its efforts to prepare for large-scale electricity shortages by agreeing to serve as an emergency staging area.
The historic village agreed to address widespread interruptions in electricity service by providing parking for hundreds of National Grid employees and line workers to restore service to Central Mass.; allowing use of the grounds for housing a National Grid command center; and creating a central location for supplies and fueling utility vehicles.
