The Natick Mall has been added as the latest COVID-19 mass-vaccination site, the state said Wednesday as it looks to rapidly expand vaccination options, starting with the oldest residents and those who accompany them to the vaccination sites.

The mall site is scheduled to open Feb. 22, administering 500 doses a day to start and eventually 3,000 daily. All eligible residents will be able to use the site, though vaccinations are so far available only to healthcare providers, first responders, those 75 or older, and those in assisted living facilities.

In addition to adding new locations, the state is now allowing anyone to get vaccinated who accompanies someone 75 or older for a shot at a mass-vaccination site.

The Natick Mall location will be run with LabCorp, a North Carolina-based clinical testing firm, as a provider.

More than 130 vaccination sites have been set up statewide, largely at pharmacies and grocery stores. Among the largest are at Gillette Stadium and Fenway Park, and Worcester State University is set to become the latest mass-vaccination site starting Tuesday. In Worcester, the senior center is being used to vaccinate first responders, and the Mercantile Center is being used for UMass Memorial Health Care patients.
