Natick Cloud Tech Lands $8M

A Natick startup specializing in cloud storage technology has landed $8 million in venture capital from North Bridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners.

The company, called Nasuni, was founded by Andres Rodriguez and Robert Mason. Both were previously with Waltham-based Archivas, which Hitachi Data Systems acquired in 2007 for $120 million.

Rodriguez is serving as CEO of Nasuni. He founded Archivas. Prior to that, he was chief technology officer at the New York Times, where he was responsible for digital strategy.

Nasuni's board includes Jeffrey McCarthy, a partner at North Bridge, and Paul Flanagan, managing director at Sigma Partners. John Clancy, president of Iron Mountain Digital, is also on the board.

Nasuni plans to unveil its first products in Spring 2010.
