The U.S. Department of Defense Information Analysis Center has awarded a Maryland-based company a $39-million contract for projects at the Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center, also known as Natick Labs.

Natick Labs is located at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center, a Department of Defense installation located off Route 27 in Natick. It was established in the 1970s and provides technology, research, development, and engineering services for the military’s food, clothing, and shelters.

The $39-million contracted project is focused on improving threat sensoring, protective clothing, and hydration systems for soldiers, according to a press release from project partner Amentum, a defense and security firm headquartered in Germantown, Md.

The Information Analysis Center, which granted the contract, provides technical data management and research support for the Department of Defense.
