Nearly $137,000 in grants aimed at improving the health of residents have been awarded to nonprofit agencies in Nashoba Valley, the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts said.
The grants were awarded by the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, according to a statement, and will provide funding for a broad range of service, from outreach to the hungry to early intervention programs for children.
The money comes from the Nashoba Valley Community Healthcare Funds, managed by both foundations. Grants are distributed on a yearly basis.
This year's recipients were:
Advocates, Inc. of Ayer; the Boys & Girls Club of Lunenburg; Community Healthlink Inc. of Worcester; Indian Hill Music of Littleton; Cooperative Elder Services of Groton; the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry of Devens; Lura A. White Elementary School of Shirley; the Nashua Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America of Lancaster; the North Middlesex Community Garden in Townsend; Our Father's House in Fitchburg; the Shirley Council on Aging; the Townsend Council on Aging, and the Townsend Police Department.
