Webster developer Galaxy Life Sciences expects to expand a 90,000-square-foot biomanufacturing facility under construction at The Reactory biomanufacturing campus in Worcester to 246,000 square feet, pending approval from the City of Worcester.
Galaxy’s client, who Principal Michael O’Brien would not name, increased the amount of space it would need at the Reactory site in Worcester.
O’Brien expects the cost of the project would increase from $50 million to around $150 million and could support 250-300 jobs, based on the size of the project.
The matter will be up for planning board approval in October, said O’Brien.
The Reactory is a 44-acre planned biomanufacturing campus, which was first developed by the Worcester Business Development Corp. Chinese manufacturer WuXi Biologics is building a $300-million, 190,000-square-foot production facility at the site, along Belmont Street. Galaxy Life Sciences purchased the remainder of the parcels in The Reactory from the WBDC in February and plans to fill the spaces with other life sciences companies.
