A 4,500-square-foot student center built in just 100 days over summer break was officially unveiled Wednesday at Mount Wachusett Community College.
The $3.5 million Bemis Student Center features a lounge, meeting space, study area, game room and televisions.
The construction was partially funded by a $500,000 donation from Shirley manufacturer Bemis Associates, Inc.
At a dedication ceremony, MWCC President James Vander Hooven said the need for the space was clear during the first week of classes when he saw people sitting on the floor in the cafeteria.
“The Bemis Student Center will provide a welcomed space for students to relax, game, study and interact,” Vander Hooven said.
